Coup d'etat could not solve the tension : Army chief

Army Commander in Chief Gen Anupong Paojinda said a coup d'etat
could not solve the ongoing political tension in the country after
police clashed with anti-government protesters.
He reiterated that the army will not get involved in the matter
and it is confident that police can handle the situations.

"We are sure that police can handle the situation,
but we do not want to see any violence happened to unarmed protesters,' he said.

It is true that the army is worried about what has happening in the country
but the army can get involve only at the order of
Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

Anupong said he already conveyed a message to Police Commissioner Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan that police should not use severe measures on the protesters.
The army is monitoring the situation closely.
He was speaking after meeting with Samak.
Prime Minister Samak chairs an urgent meeting with army top brass
on Friday afternoon amid rising political tension after police clashed
with anti-government protesters.
Samak who is also defence minister rushed to the meeting which started
at 2pm the Defence Council.
Army chief Gen Anupong arrived at the meeting with a grim face.
He declined to answer press questions.
Supreme Commander Gen Boonsrang Niempradit told reporters that
the military has just monitored the situation.

"We will not get involved in the situation.
We believe that police can handle the situation," he said.

Navy Commander in Chief Admiral Sathirapan Keyanon said
he did not worry about the situation. The prime minister will be in charge of making decision.

ทั้งนี้ตำรวจบางนายได้ทำรุนแรงเกินกว่าเหตุด้วยการใช้ปืนจี้หัวประชาชนให้ออกไปจากพื้นที่
การบุกเข้าในพื้นที่ครั้งนี้เนื่องจากตำรวจต้องการพื้นที่ครึ่งหนึ่งของทำเนียบรัฐบาล คือตั้งแต่ประตู 5
ตึกสำนักเลขาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรีไปจนถึงตึกสำนักปลัดสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี

Police and PAD in a standoff at Gov't House..!

As of Wednesday's morning, about 1,000 policemen
have been deployed to secure about half of the Government House compound,
from the back of the Thai Khu Fah Building all the way to the back gate
fronting Rajdamnoen Nok Avenue.
Thousands of protesters led by the People's Alliance for Democracy
are occupying the lawn in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building.
Since 3.00 am, police have managed to gain control of gates,
except one facing the Rama V Road which the PAD could still use for
maintaining contacts with its main rally site at Makawan Rangsan Bridge.

At around 6am, PAD leader Chamlong Srimuang made a morning speech
advising the crowds on how to brace for anti-riot measures.
Organisers started to encourage the crowds at the main rally site to move to
the Government House lawn in order to boost the numbers,
seen as a move to deter the forced eviction by police.

เมื่อเวลาประมาณ 03.00 น. วันนี้ (27 สิงหาคม) เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจปราบจลาจลและกำลังตำรวจตระเวนชายแดน
พร้อมโล่ห์และตะบองครบชุดกว่าพันนาย พยายามบุกเข้าทำเนียบรัฐบาลด้านประตู 4 ถนนพิษณุโลก
ซึ่งสามารถเข้าไปได้บางส่วน แต่โดนกลุ่มป้องกันการชุมนุมของพันธมิตร (การ์ด) พยายามผลักออกไปจนถึงนอกประตู
แต่กำลังของเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจมีมากกว่า จึงใช้ตะบองตีกลุ่มพันธมิตรจนหัวแตกนับสิบคน ทำให้เจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจสามารถทะลุประตู 4
เข้าไปได้กว่าพันคน และปักหลักกำลังอยู่บริเวณตึกสันติไมตรี
ทั้งนี้ กำลังตำรวจที่บุกเข้าทำเนียบรัฐบาลได้เริ่มทะยอยปิดล้อมกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมและเพิ่มจำนวนมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
ทำให้ พล.ต.จำลอง ศรีเมือง ต้องประสานกลุ่มพันธมิตรฯที่สะพานมัฆวานให้มาเสริมทัพที่ทำเนียบรัฐบาล
เนื่องจากตำรวจได้ทะยอยปิดล้อมกลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมที่ละจุด ทำให้กลุ่มรักษาความปลอดภัยของพันธมิตรต้องไปตั้งแนวประจันหน้า
กับตำรวจปราบจลาจลที่หลังตึกไทยคู่ฟ้า ส่วนพันธมิตรอีกกลุ่มแยกตัวไปตั้งแนวประจันหน้ากับตำรวจที่ถนนพิษณุโลก
บริเวณประตู 4 และประตู 7 ด้านคลองผดุงกรุงเกษม

อย่างไรก็ตาม การปราศรัยบนเวทีพันธมิตรฯ แกนนำบางส่วนยังคงดำเนินรายการต่อไป
ช่วงหนึ่งนายสมศักดิ์ โกศัยสุข ได้ขึ้นชี้แจงให้กลุ่มผู้ชุมนุมไม่ต้องกลัวการบุกเข้ามาของเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจ เพราะไม่ได้กระทำความผิด
สำหรับสถานการณ์ทั่วไป เบื้องต้นยังไม่มีการสลายการชุมนุม !!
ด้าน พล.อ.บุญสร้าง เนียมประดิษฐ์ ผบ.สส. กล่าวว่า เฝ้าประเมินสถานการณ์ และทหารไม่ออก
อยู่ดี ๆ คงไม่ออกหรอก ทหารก็เป็นกลางทางการเมือง ทหารมีวินัย ว่าจะต้องทำตัวอย่างไร
ที่นายกฯบอกว่าให้เลือกข้างคงไม่ได้หมายถึงทหาร ตอนนี้ทหารตามสถานการณ์ อะไรที่ทำไปตามกฎหมาย
ไม่ใช่อยู่ดีๆ ออกไปเคลื่อนไหวทำโน่น ทำนี่ ส่วนเรื่องการรัฐประหาร ทหารไม่อยากทำ ส่วนตัวอยากให้จบเรียบร้อย
